What's included
Every studio session price includes the whole studio.
You book the session and the studio comes with it: the engineer, the mic locker, the pre-amps, the console and the backline, all in the one number.
The engineer
Our in-house engineer runs every session from load-in to rough mix. There's no room-only rate, because a great room with nobody driving it doesn't make records.
Mics and pre-amps
Neumann, AKG, Sony, Shure and AEA, through Neve Portico 2 and Universal Audio pre-amps into the Toft console. All of it is in the session price.
Backline
A Marshall half stack and a Gretsch Catalina Maple kit, set up in the live room and ready when you arrive.
The hang
Good coffee, a lounge, and an outdoor BBQ area for the breaks between takes. Setup time is part of the session, never a clock you're watching.

Cost questions
What people ask about recording studio costs.
How much does it cost to record a song?
At MidWav, a release-ready single, recorded, mixed and mastered with two revision rounds, is a flat $800. If you need a solid rough version to shop around or build on, a $325 demo session gets you five hours of studio time with a same-day mix and basic master of one song. For multi-song projects, most artists book a $500 full day of tracking and add mixing and mastering at $250 per song.
How much is studio time at MidWav?
A full day (8 or more hours) is $500 and a five-hour demo session is $325. The engineer is always included in the price.
Do you charge by the hour?
We book by the session. A full day works out to roughly $60 an hour with the engineer included, but nobody's watching a timer. Setup is part of the session, and we keep going until the take is the one.
Is the engineer really included?
Yes, always. Every session price on this page includes our in-house engineer, all mics, pre-amps, outboard gear and backline. What you see is what you pay.
What do I leave with?
Session files from every session. A full day can add mixing and mastering per song. A demo session includes a same-day rough mix and basic master of one song. The one-song package leaves with a finished, streaming-ready single.
How much is a 2 or 3 hour studio session?
We book by the session, and the shortest one is the five-hour demo at $325: one song with a same-day mix and basic master, engineer included. A short hourly block tends to run out right as the room starts sounding right, so we built the demo session to be long enough to finish something.
How much does it cost to record an album?
Most albums here are built from $500 full days of tracking, as many as the record needs, plus mixing and mastering at $250 per song. Tell us how many songs you have and how rehearsed the band is, and we'll map out the days with you.
How do I pay, and do you take a deposit?
Call or send the booking form and we'll go over dates and payment when we confirm the session.
